Mr. Yu Hua(于華), Deputy Director General of the Investment Promotion Agency, and Dr. Sun Wansong (孫萬松), Director of Project Development Department, Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, with a Biotech Delegation of 24 members, visited San Francisco Bay Area from April 26th to 27th, 2010. The mission of the Delegation is to foster technology collaboration and to boost mutual investment between the US and China in the area of biotechnology. The delegation consists of officials of Ministry of Commerce, executives from biotech companies and representatives from several Bio Science Parks in Beijing, Shanghai, Taizhou , Suzhou, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Tianjin, Shijiazhuan,

Chinese Bioscience Association (CBA), CITS Group, and Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE) co-hosted the delegation. On Monday (4/26), the Delegation visited Genentech, Solstice Neurosciences, Affymetrix (DNA-chip), and Accuray. On Tuesday (4/27) the Delegation visited San Francisco Mission Bay Center and San Jose Biocenter. CBA (華人生物科技协会) and CITS-group (盛世) signed a Collaboration Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with several Science Parks including Zhangjiang Bio Park (张江生物园區), Taizhou Biomedical Industry Park (泰州生物园區), Wuhan Biomedical Industry Park (武漢生物园區), Dalian Bio Park (大連生物园區) and New Submit Biopharma (新生源醫藥集團). San Jose city councilmember Dr. Kansen Chu attended the signing ceremony.

In the evening of 4/27, Santa Clara county Supervisor Mr. George Shirakawa, Dr. David Y. Chien, Senior Advisor of CBA, Dr. Wassim Nashabeh, Global Head Technical Regulatory Policy & Strategy, Genentech joined the dinner reception with more than 60 distinguished guests and the delegation team.
