about us

mission statement

The Chinese Bioscience Association (CBA) has been established in the Bay area since 1997. During this period, CBA has held hundreds of scientific conferences and seminars focusing on emerging trends and cutting edge technologies in the bioscience field that attracted great participation from the Bay area biotech community. Each year, in addition to our annual conference, CBA plans minimum of four quarterly scientific seminars, host activities to promote member’s well being like co-hosting job fairs, and several fun social events like our popular summer picnic/BBQ. As part of the community CBA has close relationship with other organizations in the area. We also host or participate events to feedback our community. We have a youth program that we invite representatives from various biotech industry sectors to discuss and answer questions regarding biotech and pharmaceutical industry to high school and college students who are interested in pursuing career in bioscience field. For continuously three years, CBA has offered scholarship to junior college students in the Silicon Valley . In 2010, CBA has reached our goal in sponsoring the American Cancer Society-Relay for Life event on June 26. Our accomplishments have made CBA a well-known organization with about 1,000 members in the Bay area and the membership is continuing to grow.

The Chinese Bioscience Association aims to promote its members' welfare regarding career development and job opportunities, to enhance the exchange of information among them, and to facilitate networking opportunities for them with biotechnology companies, the biopharmaceutical industry, and other professional organizations in the San Francisco Bay area. We offer seminars covering varied topics, social gatherings for members and their families, and workshops such as career or business development.

a letter from the founder

It was a nice kick-off meeting for the Chinese Bioscience Networking Group in my house on April 23, 1995. I would like to thank all of you for the great enthusiasm and support. The name, the Chinese Bioscience Networking Group, is only a tentative name I called for our gathering. Suggestions are welcome for finding a well represented name for the group and the purpose.

Thank to four very generous friends who are willing to contribute their time to organize future meetings and activities. They are: Ning Go (Affymax), David Jen (SyStemix), Kwei-Perng Hsieh (UCSF/Gallo), Teresa Yang (Clontech Lab).

If you have any idea or suggestion about the networking group, please forward to one of them. With everyone's participation, hope the networking group will grow and bring benefits to all of us.

Best Wishes for a Successful Career.

Sincerely,

Hey-Mei Wang
