Stem Cells: The Science And Therapeutic Potential
Seppi Lin, MD, Stanford University School of Medicine
Dr. Seppi Lin was born in Taipei, was raised there, in Germany and San Diego until arriving in the Bay Area in 1990 to attend university. He graduated from UCSF medical school and completed his clinical training in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has a faculty appointment at Stanford, where he sees patients with pulmonary complications of bone marrow transplantation and studies lung stem cells. He has been invited to speak about lung stem cells at international conferences, including the ISSCR (International Society for Stem Cell Research) meeting in 2005 and the American Thoracic Society Meeting in 2006. Dr. Jiwei Yang received his M.D. from Peking Union Medical College in 1989 and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in 1994. Following his postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh and Stanford, Jiwei has worked for several biotech companies in Bay Area. He has extensive experience developing and using cells as tool for drug discovery. Jiwei joined Geron last August, and he is currently working on the product development of human embryonic stem cell based therapeutics.
