Dr. Jie Zhou of Morrison & Foerster will share her experience as a legal counsel to many biotech companies in developing strategies to maximize the values of their R&D programs. Dr. Jie Zhou is an intellectual property law attorney specializing on patent law in the Palo Alto office of Morrison & Foerster. She primarily represents clients in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals in their world-wide patent portfolio development, including the procurement, management, and strategic planning. Besides patent prosecution, her practice includes the preparation of opinions (patentability, freedom-to-operate, and invalidity); due diligence reviews for financings, collaborations and/or partnering deals; and mining clients' portfolios for opportunities to maximize value. Dr. Zhou is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Dr. Zhou holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from University of California, Davis, an M.A. in Biology from Beijing University, China, and a J.D. from University of San Francisco.
