About Us

Written in 1998

Chinese Bioscience Association (formerly known as "Chinese Bionetworking Group" before 1998) is a non-profit organization for life science professionals in the San Francisco Bay area. The goals of this organization are to improve networking among members and to provide help to members based on their needs. It is open to everyone in the life science field, and no one will be discriminated because of his/her race, age, nationality, disability, or employment.

An annual membership fee is collected to support activities of the organization which include a website and meetings. There are four quarterly meetings scheduled every year, which include three member meetings to cover different topics and one social meeting for members and their families. Workshops, such as career development and business development, may be scheduled in addition to regular meetings upon member's request if appropriate speakers or instructors are available.

It was a nice kick-off meeting for the Chinese Bioscience Networking Group in my house on April 23. I would like to thank all of you for the great enthusiasm and support. The name, the Chinese Bioscience Networking Group, is only a tentative name I called for our gathering. Suggestions are welcome for finding a well represented name for the group and the purpose. Enclosed please find the first member list of the Chinese Bioscience Networking. If you find any error, please contact Dr. Kwei-Perng Hsieh for correction.

Thank to four very generous friends who are willing to contribute their time to organize future meetings and activities. They are: Ning Go (Affymax), David Jen (SyStemix), Kwei-Perng Hsieh (UCSF/Gallo), Teresa Yang (Clontech Lab).

If you have any idea or suggestion about the networking group, please forward to one of them. With everyone's participation, hope the networking group will grow and bring benefits to all of us.

Best Wishes for a Successful Career.

Sincerely,

Hey-Mei Wang
